BIRTH DOULA, POSTPARTUM & NEWBORN SPECIALIST, EDUCATOR
Kim's journey to supporting mamas began in 2002 when she was pregnant with her first child. She is now the mother to 6 children and in her experiences, has had a wide variety of labors and births. Her first child was born via cesarean birth and her other 5 were home birth after cesarean (HBAC).
Because of her experiences, she has a special passion for helping women who have had a cesarean birth and want to achieve their goal of a vaginal birth (VBAC).
Kim also has experience dealing with the loss of a child and subsequent births. Her oldest daughter passed away when she was 8 months old. She understands what it means to grieve while pregnant, the fear and anxiety that comes with subsequent pregnancies and birth, and the various emotions associated with these special births.
Kim believes every birth is unique. She certified with DTI (Doula Trainings International) to become a doula because she wants women to have the information and support necessary to make the best decisions for their birth, whatever that may be. She believes every family deserves someone supporting them, judgement free and that her job is to educate, advocate, and inform.
BIRTH DOULA, POSTPARTUM & NEWBORN SPECIALIST, EDUCATOR
Yaz arrived to doulahood by way of (postnatal) Yoga and her Mexican lineage. As a yoga teacher trainee she observed a class where a group of women in the trenches of brand new motherhood would hold each other with sweet solidarity and fierce kindness. In an instant, all the tales of women caring for each other and their littles told by her mother and grandmother were happening in front of her. In another country, in another language. It showed Yaz that sisterhood can exist in the rawest and most empowering forms no matter where you are.
She is certified as a birth and postpartum doula through DTI (Doula Trainings International) and has additional specializations in belly binding and rebozo.
Yaz is a lifelong student of Yoga (with a passion for Ayurveda), a lifelong student of birth, of mamahood, of sister and brotherhood. She strives to offer what she honors the most: the space to feel heard, held, supported and loved.
Yaz has experience working alongside women of different cultural backgrounds. She has doula’d in different settings for a wide diversity of women and families. She loves listening to people’s stories, using her rebozo, her oils for mean foot massages, and her newly acquired belly binding skills.

BIRTH DOULA, POSTPARTUM & NEWBORN SPECIALIST, FACILITATOR
Jacqueline can't think of a time when she wasn't passionate about reproductive health, and after the birth of her son in 2014, she decided to follow her heart and become a birth and postpartum doula. In her previous life, she had dreams of becoming a Foreign Service Officer with the State Department, but the thought of being too far away from breakfast tacos and family made her rethink that decision.
Working for over ten years full-time outside the home, and making the transition back to office life after only ten weeks off postpartum, has shaped her outlook on life pre- and post-birth and has provided her with a unique vantage point from which to serve families. Jacqueline believes it is a basic human right to birth the way one chooses and have access to all the information one needs to make informed choices.
Jacqueline is certifying through Doula Trainings International (DTI), is a volunteer in the newborn nursery at St. David's Medical Center, and is a member of the Central Texas Doula Association. She feels fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful community at AustinBorn and looks forward to supporting families on life's most exciting journey.
