Falling Back on Your Support

Postpartum 4th trimester PMAD Depression Anxiety Newborn Breastfeeding

Around AustinBorn we've been feeling the changes. We moved offices last month plus the transition of seasons (or, as close to seasons as we get here in the heart of Texas) moved us from the balmy, carefree heat of summer to the cozy, introspective cool of fall. Last weekend, the clocks changed and we fell back an hour as we started to hunker down into longer nights.

Time, like all of us (like life), is so changeable. Especially when you have a baby it's remarkable how the hours and days might drag on but suddenly you wake up and there's a toddler in your house. Years have passed in the blink of an eye. And in those years of raising a baby you may have been more vulnerable then you ever thought possible. Who did you fall back on? Who were your people? The ones who made you laugh when all you wanted to do was scream in frustration? Or listened and and let you cry and said, "It gets better."

If you didn't have or don't have those people, we want to help you find them. Our heart & soul at AustinBorn is about creating safe space around parenting for people to build their community. Sometimes the hardest part is to allow ourselves to crack open just a bit, to trust fully those around us. To say, "I believe --I trust-- you'll be there to catch me when I fall."

But we all need that support net. Somedays you're the one falling back and somedays you're the one catching. Somedays just knowing it's there is all you need to keep yourself up. We really believe this is why The Circle --our postpartum group for when motherhood isn't Pinterest perfect-- has been so popular. And it's why we're so excited to be expanding it. Starting November 12, Thursday mornings (11:30am-1:30pm) will be The Circle for mamas of crawlers & walkers. Wednesdays will remain from 10:00am-12:00pm but now just for mamas of babies in arms. And, as a bonus, the 2nd Saturday each month (10:00am-12:00pm) will be The Circle for all ages.

We hope you'll join us, sister.
